Charmene completed her BA in Dance at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2006. This included a semester at Purchase College, New York where she also worked with Karole Armitage and the Armitage Gone! Dance Company.
Since then, her attraction to travelling has taken her through Europe, performing in Asia and around Australia where in March 2007 Charmene joined Dancenorth in Townsville under the direction of Gavin Webber for their Underground season. Also in that year, she received an Australia Council Skills and Development Grant for Young and Emerging Artists, which enabled her to travel and learn from numerous choreographers including Sue Healey and Tanja Liedtke. In October she joined Chunky Move in Melbourne for Mortal Engine, which premiered at the 2008 Sydney Festival. She has also given short film a go, dancing and acting in Think Of Yourself As Plural directed by David Rosetzky with choreography by Lucy Guerin.
In 2008 Charmene joined the Tasdance team for the Parenthesis season. Charmene is currently dancing with Sydney Dance Company under the artistic direction of Rafael Bonachela, which she joined in 2010.
