Gregory began his dance training at the Paul Athow School of Dance in 1989, then followed with four years full time at the Queensland University of Technology, graduating with an Associate Diploma and Bachelor of Arts in Dance in 1993. Coming to dance as a late starter, aged 20, Greg had an extensive background in martial arts and yoga. He has continued to practice these skills and for the past two years conducted his own karate and yoga schools in Brisbane.
Greg's performance experience highlights includes: A Strange Attraction, a performance project with Brisbane based choreographer Jean Tally in 1992, dancing in Tokyo with Queensland University of Technology, company membership of Framework Dance (Dance-in-Education), and participating in the inaugural season of the Australian Folkloric Dance Company in 1994. Greg enjoyed the challenge of working with Tasdance in 1995 and 1996 with its scope for artistic creativity and community involvement projects.
