Frances Rings


Frances Rings (2009)

Frances is a descendant of the Kokatha Tribe on her maternal side and has a German father. For Bangarra Dance Theatre Frances choreographed Rations, Unaipon, X300 and co-choreographed Bush. In 2006 she choreographed Debris for West Australian Ballet and in 2007 Belonging as part of a double bill with Narelle Benjamin for the 2008 Sydney Festival.

Frances has danced in works by many of Australia's leading choreographers and companies including; Bangarra, Legs on the Wall, Meryl Tankard and Leigh Warren. Her awards include Best New Australian Work (Helpmann), Female Dancer of the Year (Deadly), and Outstanding Achievement in Choreography (Ausdance).

In 2009 Frances travelled to the Banff Centre in Canada to participate in the International Indigenous Choreographers Residency and Summit. Frances was thrilled to choreograph Remembered of Us for Tasdance's Identity season in 2009 and subsequent tour in 2012.
