Bruce McKinven

Bruce graduated from QUT's Visual Arts course in 1994 and NIDA's Design course in 1997. Prior to NIDA he was Design Assistant for various Brisbane and Sydney based companies. In dance Bruce has designed for Australian Dance Theatre, Garry Stewart, Expressions Dance Company, WA Ballet, Brian Lucas, Clare Dyson and Kate Champion's Force Majeure. Set and Costume design credits in theatre include The Story Of The Miracles At Cookie's Table (Griffin Theatre), Othello [costumes] (Bell Shakespeare Company), The Dying Gaul and Hamlet [set] (State Theatre Company of South Australia), Bill & Mary, A Conversation, The Lonesome West, Proof, Eating Icecream With Your Eyes Closed, God is a DJ, Vincent in Brixton, Hitchcock Blonde, A Streetcar Named Desire, American Buffalo, Constance Drinkwater, Private Fears in Public Places, Heroes and Prisoner of Second Avenue (Queensland Theatre Company), Last Drinks, Urban Dingoes, Walking by Apple Tree Creek (La Boîte), Dead Caesar and The 7 Stages Of Grieving (Sydney Theatre Company). Bruce was Assistant to the Costume Designer for Snugglepot And Cuddlepie (Company B and Windmill). For the Adelaide Festival, Bruce has worked in numerous production/ design roles from 1994 to 2004. Film credits include Mission Impossible 2 (Wardrobe Assistant Art Finisher) and Scooby Doo (Costume/Props Maker). In 2001, Bruce was awarded The Mike Walsh Fellowship, enabling him to work with Dublin dance company Cois Ceim. Bruce designed The August Moon for Queensland Theatre Company in 2008. Bruce designed the set for Natalie Weir's In Her Footsteps for Tasdance's 2008 season, Parenthesis.
