After graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts in 1986, Catherine danced with the Royal New Zealand Ballet Company for four years, attaining the rank of soloist. She then spent two years with Sydney Dance Company before heading to Europe. She worked with various project companies in the United Kingdom and in the Netherlands before joining Reflex Dansgezelschap in the Netherlands. Catherine returned to Australia in 1996 and rejoined Sydney Dance Company, spending another four years with the company. She toured internationally with each company and worked with many wonderful choreographers. Since leaving SDC in December 1999 she has worked as a freelance dancer and teacher. She has taught for SDC, Bangarra Dance Theatre, Australian Opera, Wollongong University and NSW University.

Catherine's first appointment as Rehearsal Director with Tasdance was for the HYPER_mobile season in 2000. She returned in 2001 as the Rehearsal Director for the company and to remount Graeme Murphy's Bard Bits for the Treasured Island season.
