Dean's first contact with Tasdance was as choreographic leader for Cross Currents in 2012. Luminous Fluxis his first contract as part of the Tasdance ensemble.
Dean Cross has performed nationally and internationally with companies Lucy Guerin Inc., Legs on the Wall, Motionhouse (UK), Shaun Parker and Company, Theatre of Image, QL2 Dance, Strings Attached, Opera Australia, Buzz Dance Theatre and Torque Show. Dean is also a founding member of Autumnal whose debut work Exciting a Blush was choreographed by Angela Goh. Accompanying his performance career, Dean co-created Cross Currents in 2012 with Amelia McQueen for Tasdance's Education Project, as well as working choreographically for QL2 Dance under Artistic Director Ruth Osborne. There he has created several works for Quantum Leap, with his most recent project, HARDYARDS, being awarded with an Australian Dance Award in 2011 for Outstanding Achievement in Youth Dance. Dean is also the Assistant Director for Legs on the Wall’s Symphony, which was performed as a part of the Sydney Festival 2013.
