Biography

Kristina Chan

Kristina trained extensively in classical ballet and contemporary dance in Sydney. From 1996 to 1997 she worked with choreographers Paulina Quinteros, Alfred Taahi and Kim Walker.

In 1999 she joined the Australian Dance Theatre (ADT) under the direction of Bill Pengelly. During this time she also worked with choreographers Garry Stewart and Bernadette Walong. Since the arrival of Garry Stewart as Artistic Director in 2000, Kristina has featured in his works The Return of Plastic Space, Monstrosity, The Age of Unbeauty and has toured extensively throughout Canada, USA, Asia and the UK performing in his most acclaimed work Birdbrain. In 2001 she also worked with Kate Denborough in the creation and performance of Misfit, for the Comeout 2001 Festival Adelaide and the Magil Youth Detention Centre.

During her time at ADT Kristina choreographed two short works for ADT's Ignition seasons in 2001 and 2002. In March 2003 she worked with Tanja Liedtke on a solo work Endstation Wunderkind performing at Ngapartji Multimedia Centre in Adelaide. Kristina has also worked with Stephanie Lake performing in The Loop as part of Chunky Move's 2003 production Three's a Crowd. Kristina joined Tasdance for their 2003 tour of Treasured Island.
