Tara completed a Bachelor of Arts (Dance) with Honours in 1998 at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. She presented her first solo performance season with solo works by Chrissie Parrott, Shelley Mardon, herself and Sandra Parker. Tara has worked with WA independent companies – Fieldworks Performance Group, Amber Dance Collective and in Saltlands, A Mermaid's Tale by Phillipa Clarke and Ashley de Prazer. In 2000 Tara was funded by Arts WA to create her first full-length work and was later invited to create a full length work for the Newcastle based, Hands On Dance Theatre. Tara was awarded a creative development fellowship from ArtsWA to work with Dance Works and Tasdance. Tara was also the dance representative for the ArtsWA Young People and the Arts panel. Tara performed in Tasdance's HYPER_mobile season in 2000.
