When the moon is colonised by earth people, they live in a plastic bubble, where all their needs are met. But life becomes very boring, particularly for the children. Two boys play pranks to make life more exciting. Their final prank leads them to explore the moon's surface. This is not allowed. They discover the first moon station where the first explorers from earth had lived. By chance, they find the old diary of a missing explorer, Braithwaite. They read about an extraordinary event – Braithwaite had seen a brightly coloured flower – not something you'd expect on the moon. The boys decide to investigate his story. A marvellous adventure begins. They find fantastic caves below the moon's surface, where Braithwaite has been living for more than 70 years.
